Biography
A life shaped by form, color, and ideas.

About Nurdan
Nurdan Özşeker, born in 1954 in Istanbul, is a contemporary Turkish painter. Always interested in forms, colors and various forms of art, she became a full-time artist in the early 1980s after meeting her mentor Oktay Günday.
Her work, deeply rooted in modern painting, evolved from impressionist-influenced oil paintings in her earlier years to minimalist paintings and collages in the 2000s. Her work is conceptual while remaining reflective of her inner sensibility and mysticism.
Özşeker believes that aesthetics are an innately human sensibility. In addition to her paintings, she has written several manifestos and essays on aesthetics and art. She has participated in exhibitions over more than three decades, and her works are held in the Koç University collection and private collections. She lives and works in Istanbul.
Artist statement
Forms are never merely formal. They hold memory, gravity, rhythm, and a quiet interior charge. Through reduction, repetition, and color, my work looks for the point where an idea becomes a felt experience.
